France

Last month I had an “on-the-job” emergency that almost cost me a substantial commission. I had nowhere to turn to and was very desperate. I was never the type of person to look to the internet for any type of financial assistance, but after talking with some friends, I’m glad I did. I recently applied for and obtained a loan from mypaydayloan.com. It proved to be the saving grace I needed while I was out of the country working. From now on, I always expect the unexpected and plan accordingly. Here is what happened:

A month ago I was in Antibes, France, which is a small port in the French Riviera. I had traveled to this beautiful city to photograph a prominent American client on the day of his wedding. I had been lucky enough to secure this event through mutual contacts and was very excited and determined to do my very best work. I arrived three days early in order to scout out various locations and lighting. As I roamed the city, I fell in love with all the cafes and beaches and finally settled on five locations to set up for the photographs. While adjusting my camera at the last location, I had the worst possible event happen to a photographer. This is where my story turns to disaster!

I had found a very scenic stone bridge that covered a winding canal. I had detached my lens and placed it on top of my camera bag, which contained my spares lenses. As I moved around a small rock wall, that was attached to the bridge,  I bumped the bag, causing it to fall onto the stones. The lens lying on top of the bag flew off and cracked on the street. My bag suffered an even worse fate and dropped directly off of the wall, into the waiting water below. There I was a photographer with no LENS!! I was in the middle of France, a thousand miles away from my studio, and had maxed out my credit cards to get here. Luckily I had been able to find a professional camera shop that had a lens that would fit my Nikon and good enough to produce the level of picture quality that I needed. Now the only problem was paying for it.

As I called my closest friends and family and began to humbly beg for money, my friend Ryan told me about a website that was able to give him an emergency loan, a cash advance, within a day of applying. This is where I learned of this kinds of companies. After reviewing the site and giving them very minimal information, I was approved for the loan and received $800.00 the next day! What a life saver. I got the lens and was able to complete the job without complication. The pictures actually came out great. My client wasn’t the wiser to what had happened and was extremely pleased with the end product. As soon as I got my commission, I paid the loan off at the end of the month.

The Best Times to be in Camelot Castle Hotel

It’s not uncommon for hotels to launch promotional programs during leans months of bring up its occupancy levels.  You hear promos like one night free stay, free buffet lunches, complimentary breakfast as spa facilities and also discount coupons for certain times of the year.  Even one-of-a-kind hotels like the Camelot Castle Hotel, owned by artist entrepreneur John Mappin, offers occasional promotions during mid-November and post holiday January and February.  But the best time to be in the hotel in during the last week of December straddling both Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Standing proudly alone atop the Cornwall plains overlooking a scenic Atlantic and the fabled Tintagel Island said to be home to King Arthur and his Camelot, the impressive granite hotel simply has no peer in Britain.  Its natural surrounding landscape in the Cornish coast adds to the romantic solitude that has lured couples and their families to the hotel over the years.  It already had no peer as the King Arthur Hotel built in the 1890s before John Mappin bought and renamed it in the late 1990s.  To this day, it remains a favourite holiday getaway.  It helps that the hotel annually offers a three-night stay for the price of one during the holidays.

Christmas and New Year’s Eves are the most wonderful times of the year and they couldn’t be more so than spending those moments at the hotel.  The rustic medieval ambiance, log fires, traditional culinary delights and Victorian comforts in rooms that afford a breathtaking vista of the Atlantic combine to make each stay something to cherish during these holidays.
